I probably should have known about it. I’m out and about enough and follow the food scene closely; but, until I got the assignment to write about The Block for Northern Virginia Magazine, I hadn’t heard of this new food hall right in my midst. A food hall? With Asian themed stalls? Right, here, in the DC area? As someone who has criss-crossed DC, Maryland, and Virginia to uncover the best Asian eats, the prospect of an Asian themed food hall in the DC area struck me as an idea whose time had come. Because of Arturo Mei, The Block’s owner and visionary, it most definitely has.
