Tales from the Pit

(by Corbo Eng)

Northern Virginia has its share of barbecue finds. But, while, they tend to be the purview of restaurants in other jurisdictions, in Loudoun County, these finds are likely to be roadside stands or mobile vendors. In Loudoun, where vineyards and rolling farm lands punctuate the open spaces, pit masters, representing various traditions, ply their trade under the watchful weekend sun. I traveled the county’s roads and byways, met three pit masters of note, and brought back their stories for Northern Virginia Magazine.
